OSVR games' page is a new section on our site and currently being updated. Open Source virtual Reality or OSVR is an open-source software project that was meant for all the software developed using the OSVR SDK to work across OSVR certified headsets and complimentary accessories. This can help prevent fragmentation and making sure that games and experiences developed for OSVR will be compatible with all the hardware that supports it. This universal open source VR ecosystem allows gamers to use OSVR products without worrying about ay incompatibility with other technologies.
There are more than 350 companies that partnered to either provide access to various technologies to improve the platform or are actively developed accessories for it. The first OSVR headset was the OSVR Hacker Development Kit (HDK) which was manufactured by Razer and designed by both Sensics and Razer, the two companies who primarily sponsored this project.
As of the time of writing, OSVR supports Windows, Android, and Linux operating systems. This is why we are listing OSVR games as a separated platform, rather than a headset category, because of games built with OSVR software framework, should be easily portable across various platforms that are supported by the framework. Furthermore, some OSVR VR games developed might be exclusive for the platform and have their own release date, so we've decided that it's best that OSVR will have its designated category as a platform and not a headset category.
Note: In this page, you can find the latest and upcoming games for OSVR. This page was added just recently, so it will feature only the latest games starting October 2016 and on. We will be updating previous games that have OSVR support in the near future, so previous OSVR compatible VR games will appear here as well. We'll update you on more changes on out Twitter and Facebook pages.
