Lock N Load First Impressions

Lock

On February 5th, 2017, Zenz VR, a Stockholm-based game studio, announced their new title called Lock N Load. This is the same company who brought us the great zombie first-person shooter HordeZ and they recently released their arcade shooter Xion on early access on Steam.

Now Lock N Load seems like their most ambitious projects yet. It's an 8v8 team based competitive multiplayer game taking place in a Wild West setting. The game will be released in 2017 for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, but according to the official website, it will also be released for in a non-VR version, which you can play with just a keyboard and mouse and with a regular monitor.

We don't know a lot about the game at the moment. What we do know is that there will be 9 classes to choose from (I know, you are already smelling really cool Overwatch-style competitive Mayhem. I do hope so :) ). Each class has its own unique abilities and playstyle. For example, there is the Dual wielding gunslinger (Kind of Overwatch McCree-style but with two pistols... It's High Noon!.. bam), a Sniper character, an assassin character, and even a medic. Anyone of you can choose his favorite character that best matches his favorite play style, whether you enjoy playing as a support character or go all in with a more "assault"-oriented class.

Now the cool thing is that it's not like a simple Deadthmatch mode. The game features various modes from the wild west setting, like Bank Heist Train robbery, Capture the gold and more. This is really cool to have modes that aren't generic and arcadic in nature, but really compliment the theme of the game.

The game carries a cartoon-ish Overwatch style design judging by the character designs that I saw on their websites. I personally prefer this type of art style, because you can build a nice humoristic wrapping around it, making the game more fun and entertaining for those who watch or play it. I really like how the designed the characters, they look really cool, but you are not going to see any robot or futuristic character here, they stick to the wild west theme and I like this approach.

I have a good feeling about Load N Load!. One of my favorite games that I played in the past couple of years were competitive and co-operative multiplayer games. It's great to see more and more multiplayer VR games coming out for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. I am going to keep a close eye on this title and I'll update you with more information when it becomes available.
